“Slowly, then all at once.” — this keynote truly blew my mind.
The talk by Ayoosh Pareek, MD, Medical Director of AI and Digital Health at Hospital for Special Surgery, was striking for one reason above all: humility.
And therefore, clarity.
He has been working on #AI in orthopaedics long before ChatGPT… alongside world-class teams.
Yet his conclusion is simple:
👉 Despite numerous models developed… none are truly used in daily practice
👉 Even at HSS — arguably the #1 orthopaedic hospital in the US — only one AI application is currently in use
This is the leaky pipeline:
a growing number of solutions… with almost no real-world adoption.
So yes — slowly, then all at once.
But we are still very much in the “slowly” phase.
The real challenge is no longer building models.
👉 The real challenge is getting clinicians to use them.
This is exactly what the Sofcot Officiel symposium on AI aims to address.
We are starting with something essential:
👉 listening to you.
A national survey is currently ongoing among French orthopaedic surgeons:
📊 already 500+ responses in less than a week.
Our goal:
understand real clinical needs
identify relevant AI solutions
select those to be tested in real-world conditions in 2027
identify barriers to adoption
and propose concrete ways to overcome them
👉 This symposium is yours.
As Ayoosh Pareek reminded us:
everything remains to be done… and therefore everything is still possible.
Let’s make it happen.
